English eccentric and landscape artist Karl Salsbury Wood left a stunning legacy of windmill paintings. His ‘Twilight of the Mills’ series depicts almost every remaining windmill in Britain. A remarkable record and a remarkable feat, considering he traveled to most of them largely by bicycle.
This film follows an elderly Karl Wood on the most challenging leg of his quest to paint all the windmills. A journey that would take him from his home in the Midlands of England to South Havra, a tiny island in the Shetlands. The story of his amazing quest is told by experts in art and the life of Karl Wood, and is combined with re-enactments, samples of his windmill paintings and contemporary HD footage of the same locations.
